If you are looking to rid of wrinkles and fine lines without undergoing a surgical procedure, using injectibles, such as Botox and Restylane, may the solution for you. These less invasive procedures can be performed by your plastic surgeon or licensed dermatologist.

What Causes Wrinkles?

When making facial expressions muscles contract and cause a wrinkling of the overlaying skin. With age, these lines become more exaggerated and permanent. A combination of hormone loss, cellular changes, collagen depletion, free radical & sun damage also contribute to this problem.

About Botox Cosmetic...

Several small clostridum botulinum-bacterium protein injections are made to smooth moderate to severe lines and wrinkles around the eyes and on the forehead. Botox can also be used to minimize sweating in problem areas. This non-surgical procedure takes approximately ten minutes to perform and is the only treatment of its kind to be approved by the FDA. Results last approximately 4 months, but vary from person to person. Slight swelling may occur immediately after your procedure, but will subside within a day or so.

About Restylane Injections

Restylane is a minimally invasive, non-surgical procedure used to correct wrinkles and folds on the face and/or to enhance the shape & volume of the lips. Small amounts are injected into the problem area using an ultra fine needle to minimize discomfort. Often time, the area is numbed to optimize comfort during the quick procedure.

This cosmetic dermal filler is made of a natural substance that naturally occurs in the body, hyaluronic acid, and is safe when administered by your plastic surgeon or licensed dermatologist. Restylane uses the body’s natural moisture to hold its shape and lasts approximately six months. Redness and swelling may occur, but will subside within a few days.

Patients should minimize exposure to sun & UV lamps for a week following the procedure. Exposure to extreme cold weather should also be avoided.

To ensure the most successful results, it is advised that you avoid taking high doses of Vitamin E supplements, St. John’s Wort, Aspirin and other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications. These substances thin the blood and will increase bleeding and bruising. If you have suffered from facial cold sores in the past, please note that there is a risk that needle punctures can provoke a reoccurrence.

Restylane has been approved for use in the United States. The safety of this product has not been established for patients under the age of 18, breastfeeding females and patients who are susceptible to hypertrophic scarring & keloid formation.
